I gotta say this is one of my favorites of all the ones you’ve done so far. The silhouette really stands out and shows off your artistic style. Great job. As you said great use of volumes and shadowing techniques. I might try something like this just for the hell of it to see what it looks like.
I keep trying to make the transition to painting from drawing, and painting is really about lighting on volumes more than anything else.
