I find I don't really care either, although I was a huge diablo 1/2 fan in my younger days and played alot with my bro-in-law whenever I came around there place. Now I'm just not really all that interested in it when there are so many real mmo's out there both p2p/f2p/f2s and so on that it just seems to be another attention whore grabbing for gamer money and they are ultimately the ones who will lose their fanbase if they don't stick to the tried and true diablo.

Had to switch sound off, the video was so melodramatic that it attracted unwanted attention from colleagues. :))

I think their greatest hit has become their curse. World of Warcraft changed Blizzard Entertainment beyond recognition.
They don't even copy and polish great ideas of others anymore, they just release a slightly updated sequel of their games.

See Diablo III and Starcraft II and Battle.net.

The major changes to the game was splitting them, selling them in more pieces, adding store functions to battle.net, now the Diablo real money auction house. I wonder how dumbed down Diablo III will be. The only thing they seem to excel at these days seems to be marketing, promotion and squeezing more money out of the gamer.

I like to play Sins of a Solar Empire occasionally, I tried SC2 but it didn't suck me in anymore and Torchlight might be an indicator that Diablo-style gameplay doesn't do it for me either.

BUT ... BUT ... even if you or we or anyone doesn't care, it doesn't matter either. These changes will come, people seem to embrace them and unfortunately they will influence the design of future games. Slowly but steadily, just as micro-transactions become increasingly popular. A few years ago these were a NO-GO.

Actually I get irritated with f2p/p2p mmo's myself but lately i have just had no time at all to play ANY mmo's in probably 6 months so for me i'm thinking now f2p may be what i should do that way i can play once ever 73rd tuesday of the month and not really worry about leveling up, catching up with the guild, grinding constantly to get my 15 bucks worth and all that...now if i do it i would just play casually whenever....hmmm....gots me thinking...

btw what mmo was it?

Are you just copying a post from another person? Or am I just missing something.

I am not aware of a Pay 2 Play for MMOs. I am very aware of Free 2 Play which I think is what you are talking about. However it doesn't seem to fit with how I understand it to work. Do you have a more direct example than the generic one posted above? Grinding is a staple of Korean MMOs so if that is where the example comes from you are basically missing out on how the economics of their market work. :)

As I already said - looking forward to see more of your project. Will check into the stream occasionally, but it's hard to get what you are actually doing there especially if one is not involved in the project.

Interesting. Although, the name "Seeker" makes me think of the <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844653/" rel="nofollow">"Legend of the Seeker"</a> TV series. Supposedly the books are good but the show was pretty bland. Decent characters in utterly predictable stories.

Anyway, interested to see further stories.
